Ariel #Sharetheload

Men are more likely than ever to embrace the idea of gender equality, but when it comes to the home front, traditional values dominate.Multiple surveys and studies have documented men’s changing attitudes toward women in recent years: There is almost universal support for women to pursue careers and political office, and attitudes have become far more accepting around gender identity.

The COVID-19 pandemic puts the spotlight on care work. From the care provided by medical professionals to care given by family, its importance cannot be understated. In contrast with previous humanitarian crises, COVID-19 underscores unpaid care as a key dimension of emergency response – it’s an enabler of both well-being and income-generation, given the school closures, elder vulnerability, and work-from-home arrangements. Lockdowns are also multiplying the domestic workload, another form of essential work, particularly since cleaning can prevent infection.

Interesting insights were revealed when the panelists also discussed few statistics from the survey.
72% of the women believe that the weekends are for grocery shopping and laundry while 68% of Indian men believe that weekends are for relaxation
.     68% of women come back from work and do laundry regularly, while for men this it is only 35%.
40% of Indian men do not know how to operate a washing machine.

Uneven division of household chores is getting in the way of women getting adequate sleep and rest.People say they are progressive but within the same progressive households, there is often a difference in upbringing between boys and girls. While daughters are raised to be independent, career oriented, and strong, they are still expected to be primary caretakers of households once they get married, and that is where is all goes wrong because the expectations evidently are unbalanced, and the biggest expectation is that they do it all and not buckle under the burden. This doesn't happen for the boys, even though they may volunteer to become the primary caretakers in a lot of cases but still I think just teaching them some simple life skills like laundry or cooking will make life much simpler as well as advocate household equality. Rajkumar Rao shares an equal relationship with his partner Patralekha and thanks his mother to have taught him to #ShareTheLoad.

Men must shoulder household responsibilities and #ShareTheLoad  #sharethelaundry with their partners. It’s a way of life! It’s not something to be done on one special day in the year but something that has to be done every single day!

I am so glad that Ariel has continued to push this initiative over the years as it’s a topic very close to my heart. Thanks Ariel India for speaking about it and making all women feel like superheroes! Also with Ariel, it's so simple to do laundry that there's no reason for anyone to not share the load.I will #sharetheload and help in household chores in association with Arielindia and Blogadda.
I love this video – I seriously want to cheer them! #ShareChoresMultiplyLove #ShareTheLaundry #ShareTheLoad
